Using a Bar On-site vs. Bringing Own Liquor

For alcoholic beverages, there are two options.  There are fabulous pros & cons to both options.

The first; the venue that allows you to bring your own liquor

Pros

  • You’re in control of what is offered and how much total is on site and available to your guests.
  • Most liquor stores will allow you to bring back any unopened liquor.
  • In the long run, saves money as there are not any up-charges.
  • “ Make sure that you hire professional, licensed and insured bar-tenders” you’ll thank us in the long run.  You don’t want to risk your new family and friends getting DUIs leaving your event.  You are liable.

Cons

  • You have to go purchase it all, and make arrangements to have it delivered.
  • Sometimes requires you to acquire a temp liquor permit for your special occasion.
  • Costs additional money for bar glassware.
  • Usually, you’ll also have to purchase all mixers and garnishes too.
AND THE SECOND; THE VENUE THAT HAS BARS AND LIQUOR SERVICE ON SITE.

Pros

  • Everything is available for your guests on site.
  • You don’t have to bring anything additional.
  • You do not need to purchase mixers or garnishes.
  • You do not need to purchase glassware as its on site.

Cons

  • You need to be aware of what is offered.  The bartenders are in charge of how many and what is served as a result, you may be charged more than your estimate.
  • If you use tickets for the first drink, make sure that the bar tenders know that it is cash after your guests have used their tickets.
