Benefits of Having a Planner

Think Twice Before Doing it Alone

Catering: $6800.00
Flowers: $3000.00
Dress: $5000.00
Cake: $700.00
Venue: $2000.00

Having someone there to do all the work for you: Priceless!

Doing everything yourself when it comes to your wedding proves to be more difficult and costly than it would have been if you had chosen a planner from the get go. So many brides out there come to this realization to late and are stuck. They get in to deep and get out, unfortunately for them their day is no longer the day that they dreamed it would be. They end up having do majority of the work themselves, setting up, decorating, dealing with vendors, tearing down, organizing where the guests will go, so on and so forth. It becomes a never ending trail of people coming up to her and asking her to do things. I don’t know about you but this seems all wrong to me. The brides wedding day should be all about her, this is what we have been told since we were little girls, and personally I want it that way. Having someone there to do all the decorating, set up, tear down, work with the vendors (make sure they are on top of their game, doing what they need to do), tell guests where to go, and keep the general schedule of the day is priceless. Don’t underestimate the hardships of planning your own wedding. Go to the experts who have been doing it for over 20 years, their knowledge and expertise can save you thousands of dollars and multiple meltdowns. Here at A Memory Lane Events we are dedicated to make your day magical and memorable for you.

Celebrate Good Times

Festive Fever

We all know that New Years Eve is a popular holiday to have a wedding on, as well as celebrating the wedding festivities ass weekend long on Memorial Day. But how about all those other holidays that are our favorites. As kids we grow up loving the holidays, the sweets, the decorations, the parties, etc. For some out there they never forget those feelings and they dream that they will be able to recreate that for their wedding. I know what most of you are thinking, “Oh my gosh a holiday wedding, it’s going to be a tacky over the top soiree”, and yes sometimes that is exactly what happens. But we are here to help guide you and show you ways to keep it classy and elegant.
Let’s start out with Halloween. This haunting and spooky holiday is filled with ghosts, goblins, tricks, and treats. The bride most that most think would chose a weeding with this theme is the Goth bride, except more and more women are opting to have fright filled wedding. Below I have chosen two photo boards to represent this, each embody the theme, but bring about a different atmosphere to the event

The first one is a more sophisticated take on the theme; it pulls out the mysterious side to Halloween. Highlighting the black and bringing in accents of silver. It creates a whimsical feel, especially with the jack-o-lanterns, the top hat on the bride, and the bow tie on the groom. With the choice in colors the couple has created a soft, romantic feel, and the decorations add a fanciful feel to their big day. The second look takes a more literal approach to Halloween; with orange and black being the main colors, but they have gone away from the traditional ghosts and goblins. Instead, keeping it closer to autumn or harvest. Cascades of pumpkins decorate the outdoors venue, and rich fall flowers are used in the bouquets. A great way they accent the theme is in the invitations, it’s not all over the whole invitation, but in a small hidden accent under the lid of the envelope. This carries on into our next holiday. Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and give back to others. I chose a warm motif to represent this holiday theme. The rich fall colors create a loving and welcoming atmosphere to guests. The caramel and chocolate colored bows add hints of style and sophistication, the bows themselves are a feminine touch but the colors allow for some masculinity. As we all know leaves are a major part of fall, they are the inspiration for the gorgeous colors and they fall all around us. Incorporating them into the bouquets and flower arrangements can be tricky and doesn't always turn out well. But here they have incorporated them nicely. Adding them to the pillows with the rings and also having gold templates under the cupcakes. There they especially add a nice touch to an otherwise simple looking dessert.
Next comes everyone’s favorite holiday season. It is most defiantly mine. I think it’s the way people change, whether is be the weather, the decorations, the month long coverage of Christmas music, or the festive warm drinks that are debuted; holiday cheer is always in the air!

There are so many ways to interpret Christmas, and all of us have our own special memories of the holiday. Here are a few boards that I chose that I felt represented different views. The first one is a soft romantic look that uses shades of cream and light pink as their colors. With the outside covered in a fresh dusting of snow, the candles bring in the warmth and give the wedding that loving atmosphere. The second look takes a modern twist on a vintage Christmas; the colors are a rich deep red, a soft gold, with green and brown accents thrown in. The board has a sophisticated elegance to it, and the color choices are what bring out the main theme of Christmas. The fourth board I threw in because I thought it was fun and beautiful, I loved the chocolate covered candy canes and the fruit filled Champaign flutes. The writing on the invitations showcases the Christmas spirit well; the color choice and the calligraphy writing make it look like it came straight from Santa’s work shop. We wouldn’t forget the non Christmas celebrating folks, so I have found a beautiful, frosted blue and diamond filled board.  That incorporates the color into every aspect of the wedding, even down to the cheese markers, and monogrammed napkins.
Next are a collection of inspiration boards from a selection of random holidays. Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day, 4th of July

These are all just a fun assortment of pictures that give way to creating a fun and relaxed event. I could help including them; I thought they all looked so fun and exciting. Mostly I just wanted be a guest at these fabulous celebrations. These holidays are more about the party and having a good time with family and friends. So remember, celebrate with lots of color, keep it simple, and enjoy your day!

Finding Your Perfect Color

Wild About Color

For the bride whose personality is as big as she is! You want your wedding to be a statement, one that gives your guests shock and aw. The only problem is you don’t know how to do this without it going completely over board, and taking over the whole day. And that is never a good thing, after all the big day should be all about you and your future husband, mostly you though. Having colors be a large component of your decor and theme is great, and can look absolutely stunning; that’s why we are here to help you keep it all in check. To give you tips and show you some ideas of how to incorporate bright, fun, loud, and vibrant colors into your wedding; while still keeping it a classy and romantic event.
Many women start planning their wedding theme around their colors, the colors they want the bridesmaid’s dresses to be, the various flowers that they want in their bouquet, and so on and so forth. The trouble that they unfortunately run into is that they can’t narrow, they love them all! I don’t know about all of you but I don’t have just one favorite color, I love them all in their own right. Narrowing the vast arrays of colors available out there can be extremely difficult.
Instead of starting with the colors, think about you want out of your wedding. Think of a few words that describe you and your fiancé and how you want to feel on your day. Such as, romantic, warm, vintage antique, pearls; or modern glamour, party, fun, dancing. All these words on their own can bring out a whole slew of meanings, but once complied together they create a clear vision, and can set you out on the right path for your wedding.
Let’s start out with the romantic, warm, antique vintage, and pearls. The colors that jump out and immediately spring to my mind are rich shades of cream, soft pink hues, antiqued brass accents. To make things easy for yourself create a color board filled with things you love; pretty pictures that you think represent the theme, etc. Here is one that represents all or most of the hot topic words.

This color board shows ways to incorporate the colors and theme that you are looking for. It creates a soft, romantic, feminine feel.  I love the photo in the top roe of the bride laughing; it shows her carefree happiness at her wedding, which every bride should have! Another wonderful trick is to fill canning jars with wild flowers. It creates an imperfectly beautiful centerpiece that pops on any table, and can save you major bucks.  So I also found this gorgeous board and couldn't help but add it, I think that it goes perfectly with the main focus and hot topic words; it just takes it in a little different direction. Showing you that you can add whatever you want to your color board and achieve the same overall outcome, while having a completely different look!

In this photo board they took the theme and chose to add hints of peach and sea foam, keeping them in soft hues. The lace on the back of the wedding dress also adds the romantic feel; and who doesn't love cameos. They have such a beautiful antique feminine touch to them!
Off to a new theme, this one takes a complete turn for the opposite, or does it? Here is modern glamour, party, fun, dancing, whimsical. There are thousands of ways that you can run with these ideas. I am going to show you a couple of my favorites. I absolutely love the color combination of sky blue and poppy red, so when I found this next color board I was so excited!
For the bride whose looking to have a fun wedding where the reception goes long into the night filled with laughter, dancing, love & friendship this is a great way to accomplish that. Don’t create a formal event where everything is meant to be exact and perfect. Make the night elegantly informal, it will create less stress for you, your guest will have more fun, and most importantly so will you! These colors give off the perfect whimsical feel; they almost remind me of a carnival, but with a much more modern sophisticated spin. My favorite photo is of the birdcage veil. It is such a modern romantic look, which gives any bride a stunning appearance. The way they add major pops of the red is in the centerpieces. Here they chose vibrant carnations to fill a shallow ceramic vase. Carnations can be a great way to save a little money; they aren't very expensive and when bundles of them are complied together they can look lovely.  An alternative way to take this theme is to choose one whimsical color and one strong masculine one.  I chose this fabulous board below to represent that!
In this board we took our inspiration from bright & fanciful tangerine orange and the strong, sophisticated slate gray. The slate makes this wedding extremely modern, it has that sharp edge to it, but the tangerine keeps it fun and lighthearted all at the same time. When choosing two powerful colors make sure to keep the other things more simple. Here they have done a great job if this by keeping the flowers to only orchids. Orchids are a fabulous flower; they have a clean chic look to them and are wonderfully elegant.
Now remember, don’t let your color over run the entire wedding, we don’t want the bride getting lost in all on her special day! Break it down and decide what you want to achieve overall from the wedding; for both you and your guests. This will make it so much easier and enjoyable for you to plan your wedding. Good Luck!

Let Yourself Shine

A wedding is the day that most little girls dream of their entire lives. We have the pretend backyard weddings to our neighbors; we get all dressed up in white sheets with bouquets of flowers ripped straight from the ground. It is going to be the most important an biggest day of a woman’s life, unfortunately for many women; they become lost in all the excitement.
Weddings are most defiantly about the joining of families, however sometimes the families (mothers) can take over. It is easy for the bride to get wrapped up in what is expected of her to do; the big wedding, in the church, with the grand reception.
Don’t let the expectations take over and take away from what you want. What makes weddings so special and memorable for the guests is that there are small touches of bride and groom seen throughout. They don’t need to be the main event or overwhelming but small little hints. An easy way to do this is to have fun and unique table numbers. We have done weddings where the couple has used photos of family members that have passed on and were close to the couple. For them this was a special way to have them there at their wedding.
Another couple had their first date at a carnival circus fair. Inspired by this they used the vintage style of the circus posters from the early 1900’s as a template for the invitations, and this theme carried throughout the entire day in subtle and elegant ways.
These small touches will you allow you to bring in the personal importance’s to you and your future husband, while giving your guests an intimate look into your relationship
