Family Reunions with A Memory Lane Event

At a MEMORY LANE EVENT we enjoy assisting our clients with all of their events we can assist you with your family reunion. The whole idea behind the reunion is not only to see all of the relatives, but more importantly, to increase the tight knit family relationships and continue to grow the desire to attend for the younger generations. As a result we plan primarily for the younger generations and have additional activities for the... not quite as young spring chickens.  We help clients plan their 1 day to a week long family reunions all over the world.

We want everyone to have fun, so we custom create several games, activities, a custom decor package and ton's of entertainment for all. Regardless if your reunion is a one day or a 4 day destination get away, we can help you and your family to grow closer laughing all the way. We can assist you in planning regional site seeing tours from event and full fledged functions to attract all ages to good 'ol fashioned family games or a barn dance. Because we're a multi-generational family owned and operated company we understand what it takes to consider the needs of all ages and ensure that fun will be had by all.

Also so the younger generation gets more involved, we suggest adding a blog and a family Facebook page. All the kids are doing it.
If you're interested in seeing a family reunion that we've planned.  Every family is different and such an elaborate 4 day event may not be up your family's alley, then there are other families that this reunion, would not be enough. We also set up a blog. You're more then welcome to check that out too. Get to the family reunion blog here. But come back. We'd love to assist you with your family reunion as well.

Are you aware that one of the biggest mistakes made by those planning their family reunions on their own is that they don't consider all of the ages that are attending which results in many attendees being bored and not returning for the next one. Don't let that happen to you and let us help you create a reunion that results in record numbers over and over.

August Wedding

Outdoor Extravaganza
8/6/2011

Outdoor weddings are to summer as falling leaves are to trees. This past weekend A Memory Lane Events worked hard give Abby & Randy the wedding of their dreams. It was a spectacular event full of love and joy as the happy couple began the journey of sharing their lives together. The celebrations started out late afternoon on Friday, with the rehearsal dinner; it then carried through to the wedding on Saturday, and ended in Sunday brunch.
To me one of the most special things about the wedding was that it took place in the bride’s family backyard. It gave the celebration a much more intimate feel and allowed for a simple elegance to transpire. Which is always key when having an outdoor wedding.
The saying goes; rain on your wedding day will bring you good luck. That is easy to say when you are getting married inside, but when your entire celebration is outside it is hard to think that that is good luck. It feels more like bad luck. But one of the great beauties that accompanies rain storms are the lovely rainbows that follow. For the bride and groom, the day of their rehearsal dinner two full rainbows formed and for the day of the wedding a whole rainbow formed centering over the arch they were married under.
AMLE had a fabulous time this weekend and we were all so proud to be apart of the marriage celebration f Abby and Randy. We wish the two of them the best of luck in their future together.

Simply Homemade

~DIY~
(Do it Yourelf)
Times are tough and no one in unaffected by these problems, but that does not mean that you need to skimp on the wedding of your dreams. For those out there who are the ‘do it yourself’ brides I have a few tricks that will add special touches to your wedding at an affordable price to you. There are so many things out there that you can do yourself that don’t require a lot of skill or money. Only a little bit of time and possibly some elbow grease.

One item that many brides can over look is the pillow for the ring bearer. It ends up being a white satin pillow with the same color ribbon attached. With all the craziness surrounding planning a wedding, don’t let any detail become an afterthought. No matter how small it is. If you’re having an outdoor wedding you can play up the pillow a little more, make it bright, fun, and something that will stand out. Go to any home store and you can find hundreds of different styles, colors, shapes, and sizes of pillows. Look for one that is unique, there is no rule out there that says it has to be a square! Try a round shape, or even a funky geometric one. And the colors are limitless, as long as it matches your personality and the personality of the wedding you can t go wrong. All you need to do is add a few touches that will make sure the rings stay in place and your set. And for those the sly is the limit. There are so many options, with ribbon sting, twine, flowers; bows…the list can go on and on. And hey who says it even as to be a pillow?

Another great thing to make your self is the seating arrangements and name cards. It is easy to throw up a simple card with a number on it and give out the usual folded tent cards with a person’s name and table number. But why settle for the usual, why not strive to make it a fabulous and unique part of the reception. Stationary items have come a long way from the fabric covered books; there are now sophisticated stickers that can add a small and simple piece to any name card, or even fun stamps. Look for ones that match the invitations or bring out other aspects of the theme of the wedding. One of the most unique ways I have seen table numbers done was through photos. You can do it many ways; one would be to use the photos from your engagement in black and white; with bright, bold numbers on them so they stand out. Another way to use photos of you and your fiancé could be to use photos from various moments throughout your engagement. It is a great way to show your guest the love you have for each other. If you don’t want to have your face at every table you can chose photos of places or things that are meaningful to you as a couple. Like the place you had your first kiss, where he proposed, places you took vacations, or might have lived; anything that is sentimental. It can be great conversation pieces for your guests; they can guess what it represents or tell stories about it if they know. Don’t feel like you have to get stuck into doing something that everyone else does, bring out yourself in every aspect of the wedding.

Babies-R-Us

The Stork is Coming

Lately it has been all about weddings, but im here today to show you a little bit more about what we do at A Memory Lane Events. Showers; for both baby and bridal, today it’s going to be all about the babies though. We love to get together and gossip and talk all about the upcoming arrival of the little bundle of joy, but few of us really get into the silly games.

Especially for the working women it is hard to find the time to take out of your busy schedule to have a shower, and even harder for your friends planning it to work around that schedule. I want to give you some tips on how to plan the perfect baby shower over a long lunch.

Simplicity is key. You only have around an hour to accomplish everything. As for decorations, make them functional as well. A great idea I ran across was using clothes pins, it adds a rustic touch but with the right add-ons it can look adorable. For instance add socks, onsies, bibs, small stuffed animals, and other necessities the expectant mother might need. So at the end of the party she can take them all home with her. Not only do they add ambiance to the event but they become useful afterwards.

Centerpieces made easy. There is no need to go all out for floral bouquets that are most likely to go unnoticed. Make them fun and a statement that will be sure to get everyone talking. Use old or new baby bottles as vases to hold a small cluster of bright flowers. To make them extra special, try to find glass bottles, plastics will work just as well and still give the same idea, but glass does add a touch of elegance.

Make ahead menu is the perfect option, especially if you are on a budget. Choose items that will travel well, hold well and require very little assembly before the party. Be sure to wrap them carefully and store properly until serving time. And store in separate dishes they will be served in. You can easily do this for the drinks to, bring them in a travel pitcher to insure safe traveling. But this can be great to have a variety of beverages that would otherwise not have been possible to make in the limited amount of time. Such as Bellini’s, mimosas, sparkling wine, and don’t forget the non alcoholic drinks for the mom-to-be.

Bridal Accessories

“Before you leave the house look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Coco Chanel

As we all know, women love accessories. But less can be more, especially in your wedding day. Girls it should be all about you don’t let your accessories overwhelm you. The latest trends in bridal accessories are fun and fabulous.

Vails are always an elegant touch to any bride, but don’t go for the princess Diana train. Instead opt for a shorter veil, such as the bird cage veil. Not feeling that veil is for you, go English with a beautiful bolero. Hats can add a great touch of masculinity to a bride as well as that edgy feel.

Summer can’t be here forever, and we are quickly approaching, what I feel is the best season, fall. If you want all the gorgeous colors of an outdoor fall wedding but don’t want the cool atmosphere. Add a lovely shawl. Depending on your dress you can tailor it to your unique sense of style. Shawls come in all sorts of fabrics styles; faux-fur, velvet, satin, pashmina, lace, chiffon, and the list goes on and on.

So remember, simplicity is better. I mean none of us want to end up looking like Heidi Montag.
